A wedding dress hung into a window of soft, afternoon light. Fresh, cool air and the smell of Tuscan cypress and olive groves. Loose, brushed hair and lace culottes. A bride pausing behind a curtain of pale ivory heirloom lace, ready to dress for her wedding day.
After a morning of thick, cool, fog rolling down the Tuscan hills at Villa Cetinale, the afternoon was blessed with sunshine that cleared the sky and warmed the landscape around us. In the midst of olive groves, boxwood gardens, and lemon trees stands a historic chapel. Its path and interior is lit with flickering candles, and its weathered, old wooden doors were left slightly ajar to gesture us to come in and see more.
An elopement at Pasadena City Hall: Vows under the pillared archway by a bubbling cast stone fountain. A stroll together in the courtyard, beneath oak trees and besides beds of peach and pink roses. Then up a winding, marble staircase to a sunset view from the dome. Copper lanterns light the way out.
Pasadena City Hall is an exceptional choice for an elopement or wedding in Southern California. It’s design is inspired by Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean Renaissance style of the 16th century, and it boast several pillared walkways, a rose-lined courtyard, winding staircases, and a six-story dome.
