Jag and Rupinder almost didn’t book a Maui babymoon photography session. They wanted to keep things slow and relaxing. Plus, they were also stuck on a past wedding shoot that had not felt good. They remembered the stress of forced posing and were hesitant to trade a quiet evening for that kind of pressure again.

I’m so glad they took the leap. By the time the sun started to drop at Ukumehame Beach Park, they were both surprised at how easy it all felt. They actually mentioned they wished their wedding photos had been this effortless!

Best Locations for Maui Babymoon Photography
While they were staying in Kā’anapali, I recommended we head south to find a more private spot for them. The resort beaches are beautiful, but they can feel a bit like a stage, with lots of people around on the beach at sunset. At Ukumehame, the privacy of the driftwood-lined shore allowed them to just be together.

I often suggest this specific stretch of coastline when looking for the [best locations for Maui babymoon photography] because of its pretty sand. While many of the West Side beaches have a charcoal-toned sand that can look a bit “dirty” in photos, Ukumehame has a much lighter, cream-colored sand. It acts like a giant reflector, bouncing the light back up and making skin tones look amazing.
What to Wear For Your Maui Babymoon Photography Session?
Rupinder chose a natural white long-sleeve maxi dress, which was the perfect call for this landscape and their wish for effortlessness and simplicity. White is timeless on the beach, and the long sleeves added a bit of movement and elegance without feeling overdone.

Between the morning facial she told me she had gotten, and the relief of a session that actually felt like them, she was glowing.

Jag was also surprised to find that the shoot wasn’t the drawn-out, painful experience he had expected. Instead, it became a quiet moment to just be at the beach and connect, almost a meditation on the excitement of what’s to come. They shared that they have decided to keep the baby’s gender a total surprise, and that sense of anticipation made the whole evening feel even more intentional.

Worried About Booking Babymoon Photos?
If you’ve had a bad experience with photos in the past, or if you’re feeling a bit hesitant about booking a session while you’re on the island, I want to reassure you that it doesn’t have to be a performance.
I actually wrote a whole guide on what actually happens during a maternity session for exactly this reason—to show you how we keep things natural and easy-going so you can feel like yourself.
Many of my clients come to me with the same concerns:
- “My husband hates photos.” I promise, he just needs to stay close to you. We keep it low-pressure.
- “I don’t know how to pose.” — You don’t need to. I guide every movement so you aren’t left wondering what to do with your hands.
- “What if I’m awkward?” — Everyone feels a little awkward for the first five minutes. Then we start moving, the wind catches your dress, and you forget the camera is even there.
- “I’m tired.” — We move at your pace. This is part of your babymoon, not an addition to your to-do list.
Most of my couples end the evening by saying, “That was much easier than I expected.“ My goal is for you to walk away feeling like you just spent an hour watching the sunset together.
